The Canadian Public Relations Society is holding its next annual conference, On The Edge, in Vancouver, British Columbia, from June 7 to 9, 2009. Its website is already up and running. It’s good to see that CPRS is making use of some interactive (i.e., social media) tools for this conference iteration, including a twitter account and online poll. (The current question is: Which professional development workshop stream is most useful to you?) Promised in January 2009 is a conference blog, PR Edge. I found out about the launch of the website via its administrator, Gus Fosarolli, on the newish LinkedIn Group for CPRS (current members only).
Announced (so far) as a keynote speaker is internationally acclaimed environmentalist, Dr. David Suzuki* (whom I had the pleasure of hearing at the 2007 Word on the Street Festival), plus “Best practices from Olympic organizers” (Vancouver, of course, is the host city of the 2010 Winter Olympics) and “exclusive Grouse Mountain and Olympic Oval events.” (One of the best things about a CPRS conference is how registration prices are all-inclusive; the social events are always first rate, which means great attendance and more time for effective networking.)
*As some of you know, I’m currently on an extended trip abroad. Interestingly, the female half of a Danish-British couple met on my travels indicated her cousin was married to a “famous Canadian.” That Canadian is David Suzuki. Small world, eh?
Brava, Judy! I’m following your travel micro blog and I’m glad you are enjoying Oz! (Saw Australia today and I liked it!)
